Frequently asked questions

General

Is this an in-person event?

Yes. Do not 'Apply to attend' if you cannot attend in-person.

We hope to offer a livestream of the keynote and other 'main room' presentations. We also will send all session recordings after the event. Stay updated by subscribing to the Blockly Community Forum for the latest news.

When and where is Blockly Summit 2026?

Join us on Wednesday, June 3 and Thursday, June 4 in Cambridge, United Kingdom. The summit venue is the Paula Browne House Conference Centre, located at Murray Edwards College on the University of Cambridge campus. For additional details, review the Plan your trip page.

How much does it cost?

Blockly Summit 2026 is a no-cost event.

Why do I have to apply to attend?

To better manage the challenge of no-shows which prevent others from attending, this 'application' step helps confirm in-person attendance and prioritize those genuinely plan to attend.

How do I know if my application to attend was approved?

After you submit your application to attend, you will receive an email saying "Your registration is pending approval". Most registrations are approved within one business day, but it may take up to five business days.  You will receive email confirmation when your registration has been approved, or if we need more information.

Is there a code of conduct?

Yes. We recommend that you review the Event Code of Conduct that applies to Blockly Summit 2026 before attending.

Travel bursary (stipends)

Please carefully review the bursary terms and conditions.

What is a travel bursary?

It is a financial payment provided by the Raspberry Pi Foundation to help cover your travel costs to Blockly Summit 2026. Think of it as a travel stipend to help pay for your flight, lodging, train tickets, or fuel so that the cost of attending isn't a barrier.

How do I apply for a travel bursary?

The link to the travel bursary application form is included in your registration approval email. Once your attendance is approved, check your inbox for that email to find the travel bursary application link.

Who is eligible to apply for a travel bursary?

In order to be eligible for consideration:
• You must be attending the Blockly Summit between 3-4 June 2026
• You must be over 18
• You must have applied before the deadline.

Awards are calculated on a case-by-case basis based on the contextual information provided within the bursary application form, including but not limited to financial need and supporting documentation. The selection process takes into account many factors including need, geography, community involvement and ensuring a diverse group of participants.

How much can I ask for?

Awards are calculated on a case-by-case basis based on the contextual information provided within the bursary application form, including but not limited to financial need and supporting documentation. The selection process takes into account many factors including need, geography, community involvement and ensuring a diverse group of participants.

What currencies are bursary payments made in?

You will specify your preferred currency in your travel bursary application. Travel bursary payments are available in 3 currencies:
• US Dollar - USD ($)

• Euro - EUR (€)

How are the bursary award amounts calculated?

Awards are calculated on a case-by-case basis. The Raspberry Pi Foundation reviews the contextual information in your application, specifically looking at financial need, geography, community involvement, and the goal of ensuring a diverse group of participants.

Note: Meeting the basic eligibility criteria does not guarantee that you will receive an award or a specific amount of funding.

What are my responsibilities regarding travel?

You are responsible for making all of your own travel arrangements, including booking transport and lodging. The Raspberry Pi Foundation accepts no liability for your travel or overnight costs. Additionally, you must ensure your application and bank details are submitted at least 10 working days before the event (Monday, May 18, 2026).

What if I receive a bursary, but do not attend?

If you receive a bursary but do not attend the summit, you will be required to pay the full amount back to the Raspberry Pi Foundation.

Accessibility

Is there lift access to every floor?

Yes. A central lift serves all levels of the Paula Browne House. This includes the lower-ground floor for car park access, the ground floor foyer and Lecture Theatre, the second floor for Teaching Rooms 1–4, and the third floor for the Conference Room.

How do I access the building step-free?

The most accessible way to enter is via the Paula Browne House car park, which features an automatic glass door leading directly to the lift. Alternatively, you can use the curved ramp from the Huntingdon Road gates or the external walkway from the main college site. Please note that the walkway and ramp entrances use manual double doors that may require a fob for access.

Can I access the Lecture Theatre if I use a wheelchair?

Yes. The Lecture Theatre is accessible from the ground floor foyer. The front row of the theatre has collapsible seating to provide dedicated space for wheelchair users. However, please be aware that the stage itself is not step-free and is only reachable via four steep steps.

Is there navigation support for blind or partially sighted visitors?

Paula Browne House uses the NaviLens system for wayfinding. Visitors can use the NaviLens app on their smartphones to scan codes around the building, which provides audible and high-contrast information about the surroundings and room locations.

Does the building provide hearing support?

The Paula Browne House Lecture Theatre is equipped with a hearing loop system. Attendees who use hearing aids should switch their devices to the "T" position to access audio within this space.

Where are the accessible toilets and baby-change facilities?

An accessible toilet is located on the ground floor foyer near the South stairwell. This facility is also equipped with the building's primary baby-change station. While there are gender-neutral toilets on the first, second, and third floors, the foyer contains the only dedicated accessible unit in this building.
